Unless you like paying more for much less, Dow retiree benefits are a hard pass.
You have only medications as your healthcare costs. The simple reason is that it is clear that Dow has taken from the “health” and basically plowed the ENTIRETY into the Rx benefits.
There are almost no other plans where there is a HARD CAP on the Rx annual costs (even the best Part D plan will have a small % coinsurance amount). There is an actual, HARD CAP out of pocket maximum limit on the Dow presription drug benefits.
That can be valuable, so you need to check this carefully.
If this exception does not apply to you, the private market is clearly superior to the Dow retiree benefits menu.
None of this is news to me, in the least, it has been true for at least a decade.
